Cleaning .....

Rate this Entry
Well the question gets asked a lot ... "When do I and how do I clean my Glock?"

This will be short and to the point ....

1. Clean after every range trip.
2. No range trips? then once a month for a carry gun and once every six to 12 month's for a safe queen.

What do I use for cleaning. Here is a tip that is well guarded, well it was anyway ... Charlie's Soap. it works great and is very safe to use. (simple green can be used also but is a little harsher)
Then I use synthetic grease on the barrel lugs, the slide hood, the connecter and the rails. Use the manual to see exactly where they recommend lubrication and apply a small amount of the grease to each spot, rubbing it in with your finger.

No need for the $100 an ounce grease either .... wheel bearing grease works fantastic.

That's a good gleaning schedule. I use Ballistol, that stuff works great. It's like a cleaner and a lubricant. It leaves the barrel with a cast iron skillet feel. It's lubed but not not greasy. Over time the metal absorbs it. Doesn't get tacky or anything like that. It's really good stuff.

Thanks. Glocks are simple and there is no need to complicate things.
